UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi meets internally displaced Burkinabe in the town of Kaya in Burkina Faso’s Centre-North region. ; In Burkina Faso, hundreds of thousands of people have fled violence that continues to spread unabated, a displacement crisis which the UN High Commissioner for Refugees describes as a humanitarian emergency. In early-February 2020, the High Commissioner visited displaced Burkinabe living with host communities, during a three-country mission to the Sahel region that also took in Niger and Mauritania.
