Quels sont les enjeux et challenges actuels des organismes sans but lucratif (OSBL) ?

Les OSBL forment un monde particulier où règne la plus grande diversité au niveau de la taille, du but social ou des moyens. En revanche, aucun de ces organismes n’échappe à une multiplication des contrôles, à une concurrence exacerbée et aux attentes de plus en plus grandes des bénéficiaires comme des financeurs.

Pourquoi suivre la formation « Gestion et management dans les organismes sans but lucratif » ?

C’est une formation à 360 degrés qui englobe un enseignement dans tous les domaines auxquels les acteurs actifs dans les OSBL doivent faire face notamment « Management et gestion, Gouvernance, Communication, Finance et RH ».

En outre, elle permet les échanges de savoirs et d’expériences entre les intervenants et les participants et permet de développer un réseau professionnel, devenu tellement important de nos jours.

Quels sont les objectifs du programme ?

C’est de sensibiliser les participants aux divers enjeux et défis auxquels les OSBL doivent faire face et de leur donner une boîte à outils afin qu’ils puissent répondre aux demandes et exigences des parties prenantes.

À qui s’adresse cette formation ?

Elle s’adresse aux cadres mais aussi à toute personne désirant acquérir des compétences dans les domaines proposés ou encore qui envisage de créer son propre OSBL.

En tant que Directeur du programme, parlez-nous un peu de vous.  Votre parcours et votre vision du management dans les OSBL.

J’ai un parcours professionnel assez atypique puisque je suis passé du banquier, au sportif professionnel, à l’étudiant pour occuper maintenant les postes d’administrateur dans une fondation privée et enseignant dans une école professionnelle commerciale. Ma vision est un Management humaniste intégratif et systémique.

Pouvez-vous nous parler d’un parcours notable de participant ?

Entamant la formation en tant que responsable des ateliers dans l’institution Centre-Espoir Foyer & Atelier ce participant s’est vu proposé le poste de directeur adjoint durant la formation pour, une fois cette dernière achevée, en devenir le directeur.

Mentionner une occasion où un participant a pu apporter qqch à un autre à travers le partage d’expérience professionnelle ?

Ma propre expérience. Ayant suivi la formation il y quelques années, grâce au partage avec un autre participant et son réseau, j’ai réussi à démarcher un grand donateur pour notre fondation.

Ou encore trois autres participants qui ont fondé, à l’issue de la formation en réunissant leurs connaissances et compétences et grâce au lien créé entre eux pendant la formation, « Swiss Emergency Responders Association » laquelle a comme mission de sauver des vies.

Que retient-il de l’échange avec les participants ?

Les échanges permettent aux participants de connaitre d’autres idées, d’autres points de vue, d’élargir leur horizon pour se questionner si dans leur institution il y a la nécessité d’améliorer ou de modifier le fonctionnement, l’organisation, etc.

What are the current issues and challenges facing non-profit organizations (NPOs)?

The NPOs are subject to a dynamic environment with political, economical, social and technological factors constantly evolving. Failing to research, understand and adapt to this changing context often leads to a lack of sustainability of the organizations.

Challenges include lack of long-term strategic planning, lack of financial resources, lack of trained staff, lack of cooperation across the sector, mismanagement of funds/work assessment to name a few.

Why study this program?

This program is key in teaching how to effectively operate NPOs and manage its resources in a systematic and academic setting.

It provides knowledge and expertise about the involvement of international organizations in humanitarian crises and valuable tools to move into strategic senior management positions in the UN or NGOs sector.

Most importantly, it offers opportunities to engage with like-minded and diverse individuals from public, corporate and NPO sectors together with the high-profile faculty and the extensive alumni network.

The objectives of the program are:

• Understand risk analysis and decision-making mechanisms
• Develop your leadership and management skills and increase your team or organization performance
• Apply fundamental concepts of change management in complex organizational settings
• Outline key factors in successful global partnership contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Who is this program intended for?

The program is designed for professionals who work for – or aspire to work for – IOs, NGOs, NPOs or Social Enterprise in managerial positions as well as professionals from the private sector looking for a career shift.

A word from the Program Director:

I am professor of international economics and Dean of the Geneva School of Economics and Management since 2017. Previously I spent 11 years as a researcher in the WTO and the World Bank which allowed me to witness firsthand what works and what does not work in terms of management. The most important management dimension relevant to NPOs is diversity and inclusive leadership. The problems faced by these organizations are multidimensional and need to be treated as such. A diverse and unified workforce is essential to avoid oversimplification that can sometimes lead to costly mistakes. Effective leadership needs to start at the recruiting face and always ensure that everyone’s voice is heard.

Highlight of a situation where participants added value by sharing their professional experience:

“Many of our courses highlight the academic point of view in regard to different mechanisms within the UN. A student working for the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has been positively vocal about the reality vs ideal state of numerous practices and principles.
