There are many reasons to play golf. The sport offers a unique challenge, requiring players to choose the best strategy and tactics to achieve their lowest score. With a wide variety of courses, each game brings something new, keeping the experience fresh and exciting. The natural settings are often stunning, giving players the chance to enjoy beautiful landscapes while they play. A well-executed drive or putt can be deeply satisfying—and completing a great round can fill a player with pride.

Golf is a sport for everyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or experience. It’s fun and social, making it a great way to spend time with family and friends. For those who wish to take it further, golf can also be a serious athletic pursuit, with the opportunity to compete and improve to a high level.

This is exactly what the Club International de Golf (CIG-IGC) offers. Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the Club was originally founded under the auspices of the United Nations as a golf club for international civil servants. Its mission was to promote golf among members of Geneva’s international community.

Today, the IGC has around 180 members. It welcomes representatives of international and non-governmental organizations, members of Permanent Missions, international civil servants, retired diplomats, and journalists accredited to the UN Office at Geneva (UNOG). Spouses and children are also invited to join.

If you’re not already a member of a golf club, joining the IGC offers you the opportunity to obtain a licence from the French Golf Federation (ffgolf), along with all the benefits that come with it. These include managing your official handicap (index), receiving third-party liability insurance, and participating in IGC competitions.

Members enjoy a rich calendar of around twenty competitions throughout the upcoming season, held at some of the most beautiful golf courses in the region—such as Divonne, Maison Blanche, Evian, Esery, Chamonix, Signal de Bougy, Annecy, Aix-les-Bains, Bonmont, Leuk, and Sierre—as well as special weekend events.

Each competition traditionally concludes with a prize-giving ceremony and a cocktail reception, made possible thanks to the support of our generous partners.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Club International de Golf (CIG-IGC).
